FAQ

Answers to the most frequently asked questions

We believe in keeping our groups small and intimate. Most of our tours are capped at 18 participants, though many run with fewer. This allows for more personal interaction with your tour director and ensures the group blends seamlessly into the destinations without overwhelming your experience.

And no need to worry about feeling like a tourist herd—there are no name tags, and the tour director does not use a flag. We prioritize a relaxed, authentic atmosphere!

No, there’s no minimum group size required. All our tours are guaranteed to operate, so you can confidently plan your travel without worrying about cancellations due to low numbers.
Our tours attract a diverse group of travelers who share a passion for the trip’s theme and a desire to connect with destinations on a deeper level. Since our tours are conducted in English, most participants come from English-speaking countries, creating a shared language and cultural touchpoint. You’ll find fellow adventurers who value authentic experiences and meaningful connections.
Your tour leaders, who accompany you throughout the entire journey, are either the company owners themselves or highly qualified, certified professionals. They share the same passion for history, culture, and storytelling, ensuring a personal and enriching experience every step of the way.

In addition, we often collaborate with on-site local guides at specific destinations. Whether required by the location or selected for their expertise, these professionals offer unique insights and bring an extra layer of depth and authenticity to your experience.

Our tours are designed to be at a relaxed pace, allowing you to fully absorb and enjoy each destination without feeling rushed. While we include plenty of activities and sights, there is also free time in certain locations for you to wander, shop, or relax, allowing you to tailor your experience to your interests.
We prioritize comfort and convenience in all our tours. For most journeys, we use executive-class coaches tailored to the group size. Smaller groups may travel in a spacious Mercedes van or similar vehicle. In larger cities, we may occasionally use public transportation to navigate efficiently and immerse ourselves in the local atmosphere.

Please note that walking is an integral part of our tours, especially in historic old towns and around castles and palaces, so comfortable shoes are a must!

We carefully select hand-picked, comfortable hotels that are well-located, with the added bonus of great breakfasts to start your day. For specific details, please refer to the individual tour pages.
Each day begins with a generous buffet breakfast, included after every overnight stay. Evening meals vary: on the first night in a new location, dinner is always included, while subsequent nights typically allow you the freedom to choose your own dining options. Lunches are also a mix—some days include group lunch stops, while on others, you’ll have the flexibility to explore local eateries on your own.

For included meals, we offer a generous selection from the menu, often allowing you to choose in advance, particularly when timing around activities is important. This ensures you can enjoy a satisfying meal without missing out on the tour experience.

We strive to accommodate dietary restrictions by offering a variety of options. For included meals, we typically provide at least two vegetarian and two vegan choices whenever possible. Gluten-free diets are generally easy to accommodate, and we will do our best to address other specific dietary needs. If you have special requirements, please let us know in advance so we can make arrangements to ensure your comfort and satisfaction.
We accept all major credit cards and more. Payments are processed securely through Stripe on our payment page, making the process simple and straightforward for your convenience.
No, airfare is not included in the tour package. Participants are responsible for arranging their own flights to and from the tour destination. Please let us know if you need any assistance with flights and we will be happy to refer you to a travel agent.
We offer a flexible and traveler-friendly cancellation policy. While deposits are non-refundable, they’re kept intentionally modest to minimize risk. Any non-refundable amount can typically be applied to a future tour, giving you peace of mind. For all the details, please refer to our Terms & Conditions.
A valid passport is required for travel to the European countries included in our tours, and it should be valid for at least six months beyond the start of your trip.

For citizens of most English-speaking countries, a visa is not required. However, travelers from other countries may need one. We recommend checking with your nearest German consulate or local travel office for specific visa requirements.

Each tour participant is allowed one checked suitcase and one carry-on bag that meets airline regulations. We recommend medium or large-sized, soft-sided suitcases with four wheels, as they fit best in hotel rooms and coach storage.

Please do not bring extra-large (XL) suitcases, as they can be difficult to manage and store. We also advise packing a change of clothes and essential items in your carry-on bag, in case you need them during travel.

The most important item is comfortable, sturdy walking shoes! In general, we recommend packing versatile clothing that can be layered to adjust to varying temperatures. Since clothing needs vary depending on the tour, season, and weather forecast, we provide more specific recommendations in the Tour Info tab for each tour.
Yes, you will need a plug adapter for European outlets. Germany and most other countries use Type F, while Italy uses Type L (though many hotels also have Type F outlets).

No, you most likely will not need a voltage converter. The standard voltage is 220V, but nowadays most devices are dual-voltage. But there are some exceptions, like hair curlers. Please check your devices in advance to ensure compatibility.

Credit cards are widely accepted across Europe, with Visa and MasterCard being the most commonly used. American Express is increasingly accepted as well, though not as universally. Despite this, carrying cash remains essential for small businesses, markets, or remote areas where cards may not be an option.

ATMs are plentiful, making it easy to withdraw cash as needed.

Pro Tip: When withdrawing cash or paying with your credit card, always select the local currency option. This ensures that your bank handles the currency conversion, at a better rate than the third-party service linked to the card machine.

Tips are not included in the tour price and are at your discretion. To help you navigate local customs, we provide suggested tipping guidelines on each tour page under the Tour Info tab, as well as on our Travel Tips page.

Keep in mind that tipping practices vary across Europe, but a small gesture of appreciation is often warmly received!
